Happy New Year! Is it just me or does it seem that 2011 went by way too fast? As I look back and reflect on 2011, I am reminded of God's many blessings and the many missed opportunities and mistakes that I have made over the year.

The pastor of our church had a very timely message for the new year. He asked each person present to reflect on the past year by answering three simple questions:
1. How is my heart(spiritually speaking)? This includes our speech, money(what we value), worship and love. Matthew 12:34b " . . for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."
2. What are my commitments? Ephesians 5:15-17 "Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
3. What are my daily habits? Matthew 6:33 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

As you reflect on the past year and look forward to a new one reflect on the following verse which happened to be the main verse from today's sermon.

Psalms 39:4-5 - (NLT)
4 “Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be.
Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is.
5 You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.”

BTW - I love it when Christmas and New Year's Day are on Sunday. Attending church is a great way to celebrate our Savior's birth and to start the New year.
