I really enjoy reading the Daily Bread in our staff devotions at work. The devotion from February 5th had a great quote about letting go of the past. I hope when you read it you understand what Helmut is trying to say.

"German theologian Helmut Thielicke writes, “The man who doesn’t know how to let go, who is a stranger to quiet, confident joy in Him who carries out His purposes without us (or also through us or in spite of us), in Him who makes the trees grow . . . that man will become nothing but a miserable creature in his old age.”'

The last part is what stuck out to me. Being a miserable creature in my old age is something I want to avoid. How about you?
