Happy New Year - I can't believe it has been 6 months or so since I have written on my blog. I have been through a number of difficulties since last July.
My husband was rushed to the hospital (Western Medical Center) on October 2. He had emergency brain surgery for a severe brain bleed. When the surgeon came out and told me that the prognosis was not good I didn't know what else to do but to have the pastor of our church to pray. He spent about 5 weeks in ICU. He was on a ventilator for most of that time. About 2 days after he arrived at the hospital he started responding to the nurses evaluations by jerking his legs, moving his toes and fingers and squeezing the nurses hand. These responses along with the prayers of family and friends gave me hope that he would survive and that God had something left for him to accomplish. When the surgeon performed the first surgery, he took out some bone to relieve pressure. Tuesday, November 13, Bill had surgery to replace the bone. We were so blessed to have one of the top brain surgeons in Orange County. He was taken off the taken off the ventilator late October. He was struggling to breathe on his own. When I arrived home from choir practice on October 25, I received a call from the hospital that he had to be put back on the ventilator. This was the only set back that that he had the whole 7 weeks he was in the hospital. Praise the Lord. After removing the ventilator the 2nd time, he was put on a breathing machine. The nurse compared the air being pushed into Bill's lungs to sticking your head out of the car window going 60 mph. Praise the Lord! We finally left the hospital after 6 weeks and 5 days. What a wonderful Christmas this year. We went to Newport Beach to walk around and spend time together. Lucy was very excited to have Dad home. Every time he left the room she would say "Where my daddy go"? Thank you, Lord for a wonderful miracle.
